50 years ago, in that hot summer of 1976, Alison and I met in a shed in Peckham. I was a ‘lead’ guitarist, Alison had been playing bass for 2 weeks and apart from long hair and flared jeans, we appeared to have little in common….

Despite this rather unprepossessing start, we have played together since then in many groups including Jam Today, Sisterhood of Spit, The Guest Stars, The Emma Peel Fan Club, The Electric Landladies, Vortex Foundation Big Band, Deirdre Cartwright Group, ARQ and too many other groups not led by us to mention…and founded Blow the Fuse club, promotions and records.

We hope to see you at our 50 year Celebration at Ronnie Scott’s, Sunday lunchtime 25th October 2026. Joining us will be friends and collaborators representing different chapters of that history, including members of The Guest Stars – Ruthie Smith, Josefina Cupido and Linda Da Mango, members of ARQ | Alison Rayner Quintet – Diane McLoughlin, Steve Lodder, Buster Birch.and special guest Annie Whitehead,
