50 Years Celebration
50 years! Alison Rayner and I won a Special Award at the Parliamentary Jazz Awards for ‘outstanding musical achievement.’ That followed a sold out gig at Ronnie Scott’s where we played with many musical friends including members of The Guest Stars, PICNIC and ARQ. We loved it and thanks to everyone who came and played and for many lovely messages.

About Deirdre
Deirdre Cartwright is an award winning guitarist and composer who became well known presenting the BBC TV’s ground-breaking series ‘Rockschool’. She also played with Afro Latin Jazz group The Guest Stars, recording three albums and toured in 17 countries.
Her latest project is the Organik Trio with Pete Whittaker and Gary Hammond. Deirdre is featured in ARQ, Sea Change, Carol Grimes & Friends, and the party band the Electric Landladies. She plays regularly at Ronnie Scott’s in Soho and as a guest artist in UK jazz clubs. She also leads the group PICNIC with Annie Whitehead.
ORGANIK
ORGANIK is a new organ trio led by guitarist Deirdre Cartwright with Pete Whittaker on organ and Gary Hammond on congas/percussion.
Inspired by the sounds of the classic jazz organ/guitar trios of the 1960s — such as the music of Kenny Burrell/Jimmy Smith and Grant Green/Larry Young, Wes Montgomery/Melvin Rhyne, they also play some original takes on the Beatles, The Doors, Dire Straits and Ray Charles.
