‘Having discovering jazz six years ago with the help of the Tomorrow’s Warriors, Shirley Tetteh has continued to explore its rich heritage and tradtion, citing influences as diverse as contemporary guitarists Gilad Hekselman and Julian Lage right through to jazz guitar pioneers Charlie Christian and Eddie Lang. Shirley has performed with the likes of alto saxophonists Zhenya Strigalev, Nathaniel Facey and Jason Yarde, vibraphonist Lewis Wright, and is part of Courtney Pine?s ?Venus Warriors? project. She is a member of Gary Crosby?s quartet Groundation, and currently holds the guitar chair in Jazz Jamaica. Shirley will be presenting her quartet at the vortex this June.’
