A new addition to our household. No not a baby, a puppy. Like a baby in fast forward really.Border/bearded collie cross. Now 10 weeks old hence lack of updates recently. Too exhausted! He is lovely and settling down very well. Cats may not agree….

God I hate labels and i don’t mean burberry. I mean the labels we have to use to describe the music we play. (I’ve just had to write a press release btw) How many times have people said to me “I don’t really like jazz but I really like what you do…”
Maybe the exact opposite is true as well??
Well I would be quite happy describing IT as music but I suppose that’s not very helpful in a world which is increasingly eclectic and all music is a fusion of something. Read the rest of this entry »

I’m in the studio beginning of September with mixmaster general Chris Lewis to put the live album together. I’m going to keep the music pretty much as it was on the night. No overdubs, a few tweaks here and there. This really is live playing but it will sound great with Chris’ help.

Just need to decide on track order. Exciting times..

I’m releasing a new live album early 2008. Launch party is Thursday 25 October at the Vortex Jazz Club, London.

We played at the Vortex last November as part of the London Jazz Festival. It was a great gig and Mark Doffman (drummer, Spin club promoter etc) recorded it. Until he sent me a rough mix I hadn’t really clocked that he’d only gone and done it ‘properly’ ie not two dodgy mics but on pro tools.

Mixing and mastering in August.
